Walkerswood Offers up a Taste of Jamaica in South Beach

Walkerswood Offers up a Taste of Jamaica in South Beach

The Hottest Location in Miami Just Got Even Hotter!

2019 South Beach Wine and Food Festival brings the best flavors of the island of Jamaica to the hottest spot in the United States. South Beach is known for days of play in the sun and hot, sultry nights partying along the beachfront in the largest Art Deco neighborhood in the world. It has also been home to a Wine and Food Festival for the last eighteen years that highlights all of the best of the region for die hard foodies and oenophiles (a true wine lover knows this means them!)

The appeal of the tropics is universal yet each location has its own unique culture, from the language spoken to the history and culture of the people, from the rhythms of the music emanating from their cities and beaches to the food locals and visitors can enjoy.  At SOBEFFW 2019, Walkerswood’s own Chef Simpson will be on hand to share his own spin on how the flavor of Jamaica tantalizes the tastebuds. In attendance will be a mix of many Miami locals along with the millions of visitors, both domestic as well as international, who flock to this part of the USA via the buzzing hub of Miami International Airport and the Miami cruise port, the largest passenger port in the world.

The 18th staging of the Food Network and Cooking Channel’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival on its own will attract over 60,000 attendees to the 100 events taking place from February 20th

‘til the 24th. And, with perfect timing for your Friday night dinner plans, Chef Simpson will be serving up a very special dish as Walkerswood along with the Jamaica Tourist Board presents Taste of Jamaica at exactly 8 p.m. What’s on the menu? His delicious BBQ Jerk Oxtail and decadent Mac and Cheese recipe made with five different cheeses and of course using all the secrets of Walkerswood sauces.

You can join him for this taste of Jamaica, maybe as a prelude to visiting the island yourself! Indulge in the savory, tender oxtail and mac and cheese that will transport you to the rural community of Walkerswood, in the parish of St. Ann, just outside the famous ‘must visit’ destination of Ocho Rios, Jamaica. As you take a bite, simply close your eyes and it will have you picturing yourself partaking of even more wonderful meals on the island itself.

If you can’t quite make it to Jamaica just yet, or are thinking about a visit, this is the perfect opportunity to get a Taste of Jamaica, literally! The event will take place on Collins Avenue, at the historical National Hotel in the heart of South Beach. You’ll step inside to an evening of enjoying the world famous warm hospitality of the Jamaican people, long with drinks and good food, set to the rhythms of DJ Irie. After just one evening here of food, music, drinks and good times, you’ll decide you’ll have to just go visit the island in person! Other major sponsors include the Jamaica Tourist Board, Appleton Estate Rum, Chef Works, Heineken Light, the National Hotel, Red Stripe, Coca Cola, I. Halper Paper and Supplies Inc., Kevin Slush Co. and Treasure Coast Seafood.

In the meantime, you can always pick up one of the many Walkerswood sauces at your local supermarket to try to live the island dream in your own home, one bite at a time, especially if you’re returning to a snowier climate. While we can’t offer to send Chef Simpson home with you, Walkerswood does offer up some delicious recipes to try at home with their sauces and seasonings at www.walkerswood.com/recipes.php.

In the meantime, if you will be in the Miami area, head to South Beach for a unique event that offers everything from Celebrity hosted dinners to wine pairings and days of family fun to a uniquely romantic date night idea. And of course, don’t forget to stop by for dinner with Chef Simpson and Walkerswood Caribbean Foods on Friday night, February 22nd, starting at 8 p.m. Not to worry if you’re a little late to dinner, they’ll be serving their guests up until 10:30 p.m. that evening, so come join us, as we will be there!
