The following is a list of public holidays in 2019 observed in Jamaica:
New Year’s Day (January 1)
Ash Wednesday (March 6)
Good Friday (Aoril 19)
Easter Monday (April 22)
Labour Day (May 23)
Emancipation Day (August 1)
Independence Day (August 6)
National Heroes Day (October 21)
Christmas Day (December 25)
Boxing Day (December 26)
If the actual day of observance falls on a weekend, the public holiday will be given on the next business day.
Major commercial business such as banks, public facilities such as schools and clinics and government offices are always closed on these holidays. Depending on the holiday, some gas stations, supermarkets, and smaller businesses will remain open. Hospitals and police stations are always open.
