Experience the Jamaican Nightlife in Negril

Experience the Jamaican Nightlife in Negril

Negril in Jamaica, is known for being laid back but is also a great place to experience the Jamaican exciting nightlife. Although it isn’t the urban nightclub scene of Kingston or the ongoing party of the hip strip in Montego Bay, Negril has its own special vibe. And don’t be fooled, things can get wild at Jungle on any given night!

While in Negril, Jamaica, people have the opportunity to enjoy nature at its finest, visit numerous historical sites, and shop at incredible venues but this area also boasts an exciting nightlife for anyone interested in getting out and about during the evening hours. In addition to the more traditional nightlife options, there are various forms of unique entertainment, meaning Negril has something for everyone’s personal preference.

For instance, many people head to Rick’s Café, one of the hottest destinations on the entire island. While there is still sunlight, people are entertained by cliff divers who jump approximately 35 feet to crystal clear waters below. This dangerous activity is performed by local divers who have spent years learning the art and honing skills. To encourage divers to jump from any one of the five different dive points, visitors of Rick’s donate money.

At sunset, the atmosphere begins to change. Perhaps the most impressive part of a visit to Rick’s Café is the rara avis, which is a bright green flash of light seen only on clear nights. While there is scientific backing for this phenomenon, many locals say that people fortunate enough to see the light experience lifetime love. Remember, even though families with children are always welcomed, after dark hours are usually appreciated by adults because of the romantic ambience, traditional reggae music, and wonderful cocktail blends. Rick’s also hosts live music events and later in the evening the party certainly can get going on a weekend.

Floyd’s Pelican Bar is another popular hotspot for people visiting Negril.. It’s a bit of an excursion as it sits on the south coast in another parish but well worth the time set aside to visit this unique attraction. This bar is reached by boat and once there, guests are treated with unrivaled hospitality. Floyd’s is definitely unique for a number of reasons. This particular bar is seeping with warm Jamaican character, it is a hut-like structure floating in the middle of the ocean, it provides breathtaking views, and for a small donation, people can leave a permanent mark by carving their names in the wood. Talk to your hotel concierge desk or travel agent to make arrangements for an excursion.

We also recommend the MiYard Music Bar, which is certainly a one-of-a-kind venue. Visitors can dine on genuine island Jamaican cuisine, sip on cocktails made with fresh juices, dance all night to reggae and other Jamaican music genres, and then enjoy the most beautiful sunrise ever seen. There is one additional advantage of visiting the MiYard Music Bar in that tourists have the chance to meet and mingle with locals of Negril and surrounding areas. Plus, it’s known to be open long after everything else is closed so just add it to other plans for any evening.
