The Emancipendence Jamboree and Cultural Expo at Whitter Village is a highlight of Jamaican Emancipendence celebrations island wide, doing its part in kicking off a week of national holiday activities, starting on August 1 with Emancipation Day and culminating on August 6 with the celebration of 56 years as a sovereign nation.

On Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., the beautiful Whitter Village will be transformed into a celebration of Jamaican Culture with the staging of their first Emancipendence Jamboree and Cultural Expo. The event is aimed at showcasing the varied aspects of Jamaica’s rich culture and history.

The finest Jamaican made products such as jewellery, clothing, hair and skin care products, paintings, art and crafts will be on display and available for purchase. Attendees will also have the opportunity to partake of a taste of traditional Jamaican cuisine.

The Emancipendence Jamboree promises non- stop entertainment for the entire family such as rides, clowns and face painting for the children and the young at heart, dancing- traditional, folk, ska, reggae and dancehall (including instructions for the latest moves), folk singing,  a mento band, traditional drumming , a marching band and music by world-renowned Ticka Music system.

The event will be broadcast live on RJR 94 FM during the program “Da Spot” featuring Markland “Action” Edwards with games, giveaways, prizes and surprises.

This fun event provides the perfect opportunity for all ages to celebrate Jamaica’s cultural diversity, for returning Jamaicans to reconnect with their roots and for visitors to experience our vivid culture that will leave a lasting impression of the island’s irie vibes.
