Customs allowances

Customs allowances

Before you disembark the plane, you may notice that the flight attendant hands you a form.

It is the Immigration and Customs form known as the C5 card that all travelers to Jamaica should complete, declaring the items in their possession that they wish to enter the country with.

Why?

Like any country, Jamaica has specific limitations as to what can be brought into the island as well as customs allowances.

It's best to find out beforehand what you're allowed to bring in so that you aren't disappointed when you get to the immigration desk at the airport.

What to expect at the Customs & Immigration hall

Upon arrival, all travelers are directed to the Customs and Immigration hall to complete brief interviews with the immigration officers.

You can expect to respond to questions regarding your length of stay and your purpose of travel. Know where you are staying (the name of the villa or hotel).

If you're visiting a friend, you may be asked for your friend's name, home address, and telephone number.

Also, at this time, you'll hand over the completed C5 card to the immigration officer. After they browse through your responses, they may have a few questions.

It's best to be as specific as possible to minimize the length of this interview.

Duty-free items for visitors

Now you're possibly wondering, what am I permitted to bring into Jamaica?

  • 170 ml of perfume
  • 340 ml eau de toilettes
  • 1 liter of alcohol
  • 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 230 grams of processed tobacco
